Best place to holiday in europe?

what would your thoughts be on the best place to go on hols in Europe (on cheapish budget). things needed, decent nightlife (not expensive clubs/dead pubs) decent excursion and great weather as going in mid/late September. also best travel agent to use as all too confusing. thanks a lot guys n gals!
